Bulgaria, in which sectors to invest and to do business.
We have already talked about the reasons for choosing Bulgaria as a country to increase and grow the affairs or even start a new business.

Bulgaria, Doing business and investments

Bulgaria today is one of the European Union countries with the greatest attraction of investments thanks to the policies of the Central Banks aimed at the development and modernization of the country.

Moreover, a central and strategic position in the Balkan area allows exploiting the country as a hub for East and northern Europe.

The sectors of greatest attraction in Bulgaria.

There are main sectors to which the Government and the banks are giving more credit to implement the aforementioned policies, in particular, the European Investment Bank and the Bulgarian National Bank have made available to local and foreign companies interested in investing in Bulgaria over 300 million euros and up to 24 million Lev (about 12 million euros) to be granted in mortgages to local companies, over 50 million euros made available to commercial banks and investment funds for the financing of Bulgarian SMEs.

Among the most representative sectors of the economy and development of Bulgaria, we recall:

  • Energy Sector
  • Water Sector
  • Waste treatment and wastewater disposal sector
  • Wood Sector
  • Chemical and pharmaceutical sector
  • Metalworking Sector
  • Agri-food sector
  • IT sector

Some of these sectors require substantial revival and modernization to compete in global markets effectively. In contrast, others require a real launch as demand is growing, mainly in the new technology sectors.

Company, Taxation and Labor in Bulgaria.

In Europe, Bulgaria has one of the easiest tax systems, the Flat Corporate Tax Rate is still at 10%, and the average labour cost is 4 Euro/hour. The contribution tax is also among the lowest in Europe.

Bulgaria adopts a Civil Law system. It is in line with all EU regulations, including customs, antitrust and intellectual property. Choosing to invest in the country means adopting very streamlined corporate forms comparable to the more common ones, such as Srl (Ltd) with reduced share capital or Spa (Plc).

VAT has two rates (20 and 9%) with some exceptions and exemptions.

Conclusions.
Investing in Bulgaria is an opportunity not to be missed, especially for Italian companies, an opportunity to export skills and know-how and consolidate a presence over time.
