Investing in the Italian cheese market

February 23, 2023 //  by Iacovazzi Law Firm//  Leave a Comment

Why is it convenient investing in the Italian cheese market?

The recent 2023 ranking by Tasteatlas has rewarded Italy with no less than 5 typical cheeses among the world’s top 10 best cheeses.

Out of all of them, the important international magazine awards Parmigiano Reggiano and Burrata Pugliese in first and third place, respectively.

This excellent result is undoubtedly the result of the traditional excellence and quality of Italian products, but also of the know-how of companies in the Belpaese that focus on innovation and quality in their products.

The advantages of investing in Italian cheese companies.

Investing in the Italian cheese market is undoubtedly a guarantee of excellent results in commercial terms.

The Italian market guarantees, first and foremost:

  1. Quality of raw materials, livestock and crops.
  2. Highly controlled supply chain processes.
  3. Prevalence of small and medium-sized companies with solid, capitalised structures.
  4. Guaranteed know-how and quality of denominations and origins, controlled, certified and protected.
  5. Unique and traditional products.

These characteristics make the Made in Italy brand commercially expendable worldwide.

Can a foreigner buy business in Italy?

There are many ways for a foreign investor to buy a business in Italy. These include directly acquiring companies for sale on the market or entering into private equity, or alternatively opening a company by hiring staff already possessing the specific know-how.

In all cases it will be necessary to properly plan the investment through a business plan for the project, due diligence in the case of a company acquisition, and proper corporate and tax planning.
